McCain picks a VP he can objectify:
Seriously, where the hell is he looking? Does he not realize that he's on national television?
So, yay, we've got our first female Republican Vice Presidential nominee. It's about time, and it's a great precedent for women everywhere.
So, what the fuck yet no big surprise, she's anti-abortion, pro-guns, anti-GLBT rights (but it's ok, because she has "gay friends"???), pro-creationism, and anti-environment. Shocking.
As an aside, what is wrong with militant Clinton supporters...? I find them absolutely baffling. Yes, the contest between Obama and Clinton was exhausting and managed to successfully divide the party. However, had Obama lost the nomination, never would the phrase "Guess I have to vote for McCain now!" cross my mind, or my lips. Why? Because I'm a democrat, and I support democratic values.
So who are they kidding?
All these embittered soundbites are telling me is that they never truly believed in Hilary's values, intellect and opinions, but were simply gunning for her because she has a vagina. If this is the case, they may well vote for McCain because he now has a woman (albeit a woman who dismisses the fundamental values of the democratic party) by his side. And I find that both abhorrent and insulting.
ETA: I think Cara of The Curvature sums up the Palin pick quite nicely:
And where there fuck does Captain Misogyny, [who] opposes access to birth control, thinks Roe should be overturned, opposes equal pay for equal work, calls his wife a cunt in public and laughs when supporters call Hillary Clinton a bitch, get off on nominating a woman like he’s all super tolerant and actually believes what women are his equals? Even if this woman seems to not like women all that much herself?
This move doesn't mean McCain is enlightened or has any respect for women. I think his discomfort and lechery in the above video makes it pretty clear: this is pure, condescending pander.

I loathe the man.
It's so obvious how Pallin was not fully vetted before her surprise nomination. And it's so obvious how much the so-called "maverick" has whored himself to the Evangelical right-wing Republican base. Come on... his short list had included Tom Ridge and Leiberman? Give me a frickin' break.
I was so praying it would have been Romney. I'm still praying that Pallin withdraws and McSame pulls a "nevermind" stunt.
This whole thing is absolutely frightening. So many lies, so many cover ups! Even the idea that she was in labour for (what was it 22 hours?) with her fifth child is an incredible fantasy created to make her above woman, a SuperHeroWoman. Highly suspicious mind you...if your baby was making his appearance a month prematurely AND you were aware that he had Down Syndrome (which often comes with other, more immediate health issues requiring attention)wouldn't you go to the nearest hospital in Texas rather than catch an eight hour flight, drive for two hours to a remote hospital and then await delivery several hours later? I have four children...each delivery was shortened by several hours. When I felt the first twinges of labour for number four I got to the hospital immediately!! (good thing too, she was almost born in the elevator on the way up to the delivery room!) There are also complications inherent to delivering a baby past 40 that may require attention. For such a "smart" lady wouldn't she think of that?Reckless, reckless, reckless! Hmmmm....unless she is hiding something of course. You'd think McCain would have Googled her, or at least looked her up on YouTube before making such a choice. One word. Pandering.
